Full-Depth Reclamation (FDR) is an innovative in-place recycling method used for reconstructing existing flexible pavements. It involves utilizing the existing pavement materials as the base for the new road surface, making it a cost-effective and sustainable option for road rehabilitation.
In the FDR process, the entire flexible pavement section, along with a portion of the underlying materials, is uniformly pulverized and stabilized using Portland cement. This creates a cement-stabilized base that enhances the strength, stiffness, and durability of the foundation, providing a solid base for the new pavement or surface layer.

To perform FDR, road contractors use a range of specialized highway construction machines, including cold recyclers, soil stabilizers, watering trucks, automatic cement spreaders, motor graders, vibratory rollers, and tire-type rollers. These machines work together to ensure efficient and effective pavement reconstruction.
