1.Pulverization: The existing asphalt pavement and a portion of the underlying materials (like base and subgrade) are pulverized and mixed together. This process usually goes down to a depth of 4 to 12 inches, depending on the project requirements.
2.Addition of Stabilizing Agents: After pulverization, various stabilizing agents like cement, lime, or bitumen emulsion may be added to the mixture. These agents help to bind the materials together and enhance the structural integrity of the new base.
3.Compaction: The recycled material, now treated and stabilized, is compacted to create a new base layer. This layer is then ready for the application of a new surface course, like asphalt or concrete.
4.Surfacing: Finally, a new asphalt or concrete surface is applied over the compacted base, completing the road rehabilitation process.
